Get Growing with Inner City Seeds

Learn to grow this Summer!

Inner City Seeds have various ways in which you can join in with growing which promote both learning and collaboration. This year we have two projects one which we have designed to help beginners start their journey into growing and one in collaboration with Fashion Fix. Fashion Fix is a group run by Barbara Hampson which holds meet-ups across Stonehouse offering Meet, Mend and Make workshops bringing together local makers to share their knowledge and skills within the local community of Stonehouse which teach the basics in how to make your own clothes, textile repairs and upcycling.sustainable, upcycling group in Stonehouse to promote At Fashion Fix we would like to use the funding to hold a series of indoor and outdoor educational workshops delivered in person or online teaching how to make clothes and how to forage for plants to use for natural dying in the local area. This would culminate in a fashion show in March held at Leadworks - a local community art space in Stonehouse, bringing together local makers and organisations. We would also like to collaborate with local gardening group Inner City Seeds to work with the community in the North Stonehouse area to create a community Dye Garden which would be planted up with plants that can be used for natural dying.

This Summer we have two projects - we created the Beginner Gardening Pack to help you learn how to grow your own plants this Summer! The legacy we believe this will leave is a greater awareness of environmental issues created through fast fashion, a knowledge of local plants, the skills needed to learn the basics in making and mending clothes, a reduction of waste for our landfills and a greater awareness of waste in our communities, further opportunities for the community to come together and connect in a creative and friendly environment, contributing to wellbeing and combatting isolation and a small garden they can take pride in creating and can use in the future.

Learning the basics of growing plants is not only educational and good for the environment, it's also a lot of fun and something all ages can take part in and enjoy.

In our pack we've covered all the bases!

Inside you'll find Sunflower seeds - our favourite beginner friendly plant, information on how to grow your Sunflower, fun facts about Sunflowers, a pack of Native Wildflower seeds from Pollenize and a Fact Sheet to help you discover local wildflowers!

We have also popped in an Inner City Seeds Daffodil History Trail map so you can keep active whilst learning about the local history of North Stonehouse.
